Comber TNC NISC would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend a meeting to discuss the proposed stadium development at the Maze/Long Kesh site. This meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th June at Comber Recreational Football Club, from 8pm.
Through our dedication to supporting our national team, we have travelled throughout Europe to watch our heroes and had the privilege of witnessing some truly magnificent stadiums, for example the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. This has also afforded us the opportunity to witness how stadiums should not be built, e.g. Enrst Happel Stadium Austria, and provided an insight into how a stadium at the Maze/Long Kesh may turn out to be a ‘White Elephant’.
Our members are dismayed at the continued push for the Maze/Long Kesh site due to purely political reasons. It is our belief that the best interests of the sports involved, and indeed the fans, are not being considered due to reasons that lie beyond the control of the sporting fraternity.
As a supporters club, we cannot stand by and watch the future of our national team be put into jeopardy. We do not want another Millennium Dome on our doorsteps. We do not want to be dragging our children/grand-children to a soulless stadium in the middle of nowhere in ten year’s time.
Therefore, we have asked the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Club to prepare a presentation on the subject and provide us with the opportunity to pose our questions. As football supporters in the Ards area, we request your presence to ensure your thoughts and concerns are heard.
This invite will be also be forwarded to a number of councillors/ MLA's in the local area as we believe they need to hear our concerns.
Really need as many members of the club to attend this lads. If you care about Northern Ireland football's future in any way, you will make sure you are there
